Summary
Merlin shuddered. The damp air pressed close, and he could feel the weight of the world narrowing to this—this impossible creature before him, golden once and now pale as winter moonlight. He thought of church bells tolling for the dead, of the coffin that went into the earth, of the hollow certainty that came after.
"You can't be real," Merlin whispered. "I saw you buried."
Arthur leaned closer, and the faint curve of his mouth brushed the words between them. "Then perhaps I crawled back out."

It's not like his family hasn't met Keith, per say, but a quick introduction amidst the Galra invasion isn't quiiiiite enough time to really get to know somebody.
They knew him from afar as the Black Paladin, the Fearless Leader of Voltron, and maybe, the guy who Lance went to school with. (The one he was a tad obsessed with.)
