The jacket was Colt’s while the beanie was Court’s.
Those two items have been there for a long time. Reminders of his long gone brothers. Ryland used to wear them from time to time or when the pain of missing them was too much to bear. He tries to not wear it too much, afraid that he will ruin the things that are dear to him. It’s been a while since he wore them. He has been so busy with teaching and preparing materials for his students lately that the pain of missing them fades into the background.
As he looks at those cherished items, he feels the pain start to tug his heart.
Gosh, he misses them.
He grabs the jacket and the beanie, hugs it close to him while searching for his phone. His mind runs to that turned his life for the worse.
