Summary
A sly, slinking part of him always knew he couldn't have denied himself this pleasure forever. He had tried to hold off, gave it a good run, but tough luck, the house always wins. Eddie had shown the table his hand, and in it, every permutation of Buck he has ever known: a coworker, a friend, a secondary parental figure to Christopher… and, in turn, the house revealed this new version of him, etched in moonlight and framed between the open V of his shaking legs, with Eddie right in the middle, and then he had folded, game over.
While on their way home from Nashville, Buck and Eddie's rental car breaks down on the shoulder of the I-10, and they find a way to pass the time.

Summary
Buck knows how this goes. People go, even when they don’t mean to. Even when they say they won’t.
Eddie swears that won’t happen. That he and Christopher will always be Buck’s family, even if they're in Texas. That leaving doesn’t mean losing.
But Buck has heard that one before. And Eddie is boarding a plane.
(Or: Buck tries to let Eddie go, Eddie finally realizes what that really means for them, and the flight attendant who ships them gives him one last chance to make things right.)

Summary
Buck goes to the hospital when he feels like the hit he took from Chim is worse than it looks. When he finds out that he actually managed to break a bone in his face, Buck calls Detective Romero to file the report, wanting to keep anyone with ties to the 118, like Athena, from finding out just yet. He doesn't count on Eddie showing up and getting growly and angry that anyone touched Buck and hurt him, nor becoming Jee-Yun's foster parent until Maddie can get through her treatment at the in-patient treatment facility she goes to, let alone breaking up with Taylor.
