Summary
Charlie knows by now that these kids are brilliant, terrifying, beyond talented--and completely alone, except for him. He's not exactly sure that he's the mentor they deserve, but the Eye sent him here for a reason, right? They must need him.
He might just need them, too.
...
Five times Charlie took care of one of the Horsemen and one time they took care of him.

Summary
There are few things as unsettling as attending an underground magic show and seeing your own face staring back at you from the stage.
It's a niche situation, Charlie will admit. Most people don't go to underground magic shows at all. New York has a higher population of people willing to go to an abandoned warehouse on the word of some online rumors and some stickers on telephone poles, sure, but it's still not a normal activity. If people go to one at all, it's usually to one of the mainstream performers, the ones who have their own stages and shows, or they're on a cruise ship or corporate event and have nothing better to do. The last time he saw a show like this, packed to the gills with people vying for space, voices layered over each other as they whisper in anticipation, he was the headlining performer.
Technically, he's still the headlining performer tonight. It's just that no one bothered to tell him that.
...
Charlie Vanderberg, the former leader of the legendary Furies, attends a magic show, finds some horrible children, and promptly gets attached.

Summary
“You can’t ignore Fez forever,” Rue notes as she pushes herself off the frame and snags the black coffee Lexi had left for her.
“Funny, cause I’ve been doing pretty good so far I think,” Lexi mutters, jaw tight.
At least twice a month she receives a call that comes up CALIFORNIA STATE CORRECTIONS that she sends to voicemail. Sometimes Fezco leaves a voicemail, sometimes he doesn’t. Not that Lexi listens to them.
(But she doesn’t delete them either, and she’s unwilling to really dig into the reason why.)

Summary
There are a lot of things he should be thinking about as his house is getting raided.
If Faye is okay beside him as they lay side-by-side with their hands behind their backs.
If Ash is going to keep his fucking mouth shut and hands to himself in the hallway, outside of Fez’s line of sight.
Lexi Howard should not be a priority right now, with his cheek pressed against the scratchy living room carpet, the SWAT team stomping through the house with assault rifles. And yet, she is at the top of the fucking list.
