After losing his leg a year and a half ago not due to the ladder truck bombing, but the subsequent blood clots, Buck was finally back at work. Except, not at the 118, which continued to refuse to take him back. No, he was starting at the 217, Air Operations, as their newest pilot and technical rescue lead. It made sense- he already had the license, he had more certifications than he knew what to do with, and he could finally do everything with his prosthetic that he could do before. Almost.
40/60 had been his mindset throughout the last two years of grueling of rehab, PT, therapy, and recertifications, and he hoped it would be enough to get him through whatever Air Ops threw at him.

Summary
Buck’s recovery was supposed to be about healing.
Instead, it gives him too much time to think and a challenge from May that leads to one very awkward cooking video.
He expects ten views.
What starts as a way to fill the endless hours of recovery becomes something Buck never expected: a community of strangers who want to hear him talk about food, dinosaurs, and whatever questionable amount of garlic he considers "reasonable."
Between viral cooking videos, a very invested teenager, a seven-year-old dinosaur expert, and the people who never stopped choosing him, Buck starts to realize that maybe he was never as alone as he thought.

Things are settling after everything that has happened recently, but some people refuse to be forgotten. You can’t always keep a secret, and while Buck is okay with that, it doesn’t mean she has to like it. As time moves on and people grow, it’s not always for the best.
Buck is happy with her life and family, but good things never last.
People from the past come back, and it seems like the universe is conspiring against them, but Buck has her family, her partner. Hopefully, that’s enough.-+-
