It’s been a month since Dick came back from Spyral, and sometimes he wishes he was still there. He can't eat, and he can’t sleep, but the worst part of all is the empty, hollow feeling in his chest that eats away at him minute by minute by hour by day. He makes sure his apartment is clean enough when Damian visits every other weekend, and the rest of the time he curls up in bed, hugging himself around the middle as if it was any kind of replacement for pack.

Dick used to have numerous people who would do anything for him, but after coming back from Spyral, he didn't even have anyone who'd talk to him.
So when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and no one would pick up his call, he wrote letters to everyone he had ever loved, so that maybe one day they'd understand.
Even when he wasn't around anymore.
