Summary
This wasn't possible. Henry, who blasted heavy metal and called classical music a snooze-fest was playing like it was the easiest thing in the world. The piece flowed effortlessly, each phrase breathing life into notes that had felt clunky in Peter's hands.
But then Henry struck a dissonant chord, his nose wrinkling in disgust like the music had personally offended him. His hands froze.
"Blech. That section's rubbish. Clashes like nails on a chalkboard. Doesn't build right. Feels forced."
He snatched the chewed up pen from his pocket, Peter noticed the end was gnawed to bits, probably from boredom during one of his detentions, and started scribbling furiously.
Cross outs slashed through original notes, new sharps and flats crammed in the margins, entire phrases rewritten in Henry's messy scrawl.
"Henry! What are you doing? Stop defacing it!" Peter darted forward, clutching at Henry's arm. "Mr. Harmon will have my head! That's vandalism!"
Henry elbowed him away gently but firmly, not looking up. "Vandalism? Nah, surgery. This needs fixing. Trust me."

“The school year is coming to an end, and I noticed some of you,” Miss Battle-axe peered her eyes over towards Henry’s direction, who in turn nervously gulped in air, “don't have enough points to get a passing grade. However, to combat your low score, I shall offer extra credit.” Henry laughed ecstatically, pumping a fist in the air like he had won the lottery. The boy believed he was saved from an agonizing summer doing endless house cleaning and torture study lessons with his little brother. However, Miss Battle-axe was keen on shutting his fanciful dreams of a perfect summer break when she said, “The extra credit in question is caring for a realistic baby doll as if it were your own child, for the remainder of the school year!”
The teen’s gleeful curve of his lips flipped instantaneously. Hearing about taking care of a baby was triggering his PTSD of his cousin, Vera, in his early childhood. He thought he wouldn't have to do ANYTHING like this ever again, but here he was, forced to either suffer for 2 whole months at the library with his wormy little know-it-all brother or force himself to work days on end with a crying piece of plastic.
