Britney stands up and grabs a notebook off the big desk against the wall and then comes all the way down to sit on the floor next to him, criss-cross applesauce like he learned at school. “Why don’t you play with that trash truck, and any other toys you’d like, and I’m just gonna ask you a couple questions about yourself. Does that sound okay?”
“Okay!” He drives the trash truck around their little spot of floor over to the big bucket of toy people. “The nice lady said you were gonna do that, so I’m prepared.”
“Well, that’s good. It can help to be prepared for new things.” Britney writes something in her notebook and then says, “Who’s the nice lady?”
“She made me breakfast this morning,” he reports. “And gave me my very own room at her house. And I rode here in her car.”
“Do you know the nice lady’s name?”
He pauses in his methodical placing of people in the trash truck seats to think about it, and then shakes his head. “Mm-mm.”
“Her name is Helen Michaels.”
He looks up at Britney with a big smile. “I’m gonna be a Michaels!”
“Yes, you are. Do you know what that means, Mark?”

Bobby was observant — he had to be. Managing the Huntr/x girls meant paying attention. He noticed Mira’s protectiveness, Zoey’s excitement when she shared her interests.
But Rumi stood out. She looked strong, but Bobby saw the quiet flinches — at raised voices, sudden touches, her full name. He noticed how she slowly began to cover up, layers growing with the days. He knew what that meant.
She tried to stay strong for the others, but Bobby saw the cracks. So he kept her busy, grounded — little things to remind her she wasn’t alone.
He wasn’t perfect, but he cared. And he made sure Rumi knew she was seen.

He goes to see his mind healer once a week. Refuses any and all offers to join the ministry as an auror and tries to not think himself selfish for it. Bakes every now and then. When he can't sleep, he duels with conjured targets in Arthur's garage. Takes Molly out on shopping dates. Tries to figure out what he wants. Tells himself he will redo the Weasley's back garden before Ron's and Hermione's wedding in the summer - the muggle way. He digs soil. Moves stones.
The physical activity keeps him occupied and bone-tired at the end of the day.
He still thinks too much.
He thinks he might be ready for more in life - not that he necessarily knows what more means.

Summary
