Ursa may have been a lot of things, but she was not a naive woman. On the contrary, she noticed lots of details that people usually missed. Rubbing hands, discreet glances, strained smiles. So many gestures could be the tell for a lie. This was a particularly useful skill in the Fire Nation palace: it made her hard to manipulate. Her mind was a locked room to which the key was well protected. Unfortunately, that skill was not useful in protecting others from manipulation. That meant, when Ozai started pitting their children against each other, Ursa noticed, but didn’t know what to do.

Summary
Several years after the war has ended and political tensions have had time to die down, Hakoda goes on a hunting trip for a much-needed vacation. He rescues an unconscious young woman in a mudslide following a storm. When she comes to, she's practically feral. What's more concerning, though, is that she has no memory.
When Hakoda forms a theory about who this woman is, he takes her to the palace. It doesn't take long for Azula to be recognized. Haunted by her past, she struggles with who she wants to be and how people expect her to act. At every opportunity, they're bracing for her to mess up, to lose it, to be the tyrant they all know her to be. The one person's faith who never falters, though, is Hakoda's.
