Summary
Part time genius Paloma Aguilera and her handler are assigned to the CJC's brand new sister office in Pittsburgh. The move is reluctant, the cases that follow boring, and her only salvation is a hallucination of herself. Still, it's not like she can do much of anything else. After all, she was only a teenager when it was discovered her body held an immunity to the unfortunate side effects of the enhanced cognitive drug, NZT-48. Mindbogglingly high for five days out of the week, she spends much of her time pointed at enemies of the FBI like a ruthless, rabid dog.
Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi is a doctor living in Pittsburgh who can't quite outrun the portion of her resume heavily redacted and tucked away by the most iron clad NDA in the world. (AKA, her role in the unfortunate human medical trial the FBI conducted on NZT in 2014.) She swiftly becomes an object of Paloma's equally unfortunate interest when she makes the mistake of trusting the government to do the right thing.

Summary
Taylor has been through a lot. Sure, she didn't get the life she'd thought she'd get, but it's not that bad. A quiet life running a bar is a nice alternative. Well... as quiet as being the parahuman owner of a bar can be.
Now, if only those damn warlords wouldn't keep barging into her bar to mess with her.
