Despite the mundanity of it all – or, perhaps, because of it – Karen often found herself lost in thought. Her mind wandered to Martha`s feelings. Does an invert experience love the same way a man would towards a woman, or are her sentiments fundamentally different in nature? Martha clearly did feel the longing that characterized so much of romance, but what of… other things? Did she experience desire as a gentleman would? Karen remembered how Joe sometimes looked with unrestrained hunger in his eyes after the dates ended. Could Martha stare at her the same way? Well, not with such a lack of restraint, she supposed. Nobody – even Martha herself – considered these affections normal, after all.

Dahlia`s mind painted the images of her own hands drawing strangled sighs out of the other woman, putting a knife between the bitch`s ribs, throwing her off a cliff. In her last moments, would she choke out her murderer`s name like a bewildered plea, unable to comprehend the magnitude of the betrayal? Would she gasp like a fish on land if Dahlia were to pin her against the wall and wrap her hands around Valerie`s thin neck? The beast inside her gut growled at the thought and Dahlia pushed herself into the mattress. There was a pleasant heat coursing through her veins as she finally made a decision: she was going to kill Valerie Hawthorne.

She should have expected it. If men are often blinded by their attraction to women, it stands to reason that lesbians aren`t immune either. And Dahlia Hawthorne had a lot going for her: skin as white as the snow of the Kurain mountains, amber eyes that could widen in mock innocence when it benefited her, a dainty figure with small breasts that fit perfectly in Mia`s hands… Even now, knowing the truth, the thought made Mia hot under the collar. Of course, it also made her sick because, as it turns out, her second-ever girlfriend is a lying murderer.

Summary
The view from the staircase is, well, not stunning, that’s definitely not the word. It’s just that “view” is supposed to be accompanied by “stunning,” and Luz can feel her brain coming to a screeching halt and refusing to process what they’re seeing.
It's skeletons. Come on, they both knew it was going to be skeletons. The entire Isles know at this point.(Or: despite what the stories would have you believe, in the aftermath, there are things to deal with. Those things include ruined infrastructure, electing new leaders, and prosecuting those responsible for the old regime. And apparently, also Grimwalker mass graves.)
