My sword being broken while fighting Atlas and his monsters was easily entering my top 5 bad luck moments right after the guinea pig incident last year. Annabeth was still milking that one every single argument. Ares really was a sore loser.

Summary
Paul is reading through the newest draft of Sally's book when Percy comes up to him and asks if he can take Estelle down to the water. He raises an eyebrow at him. “You don't really need my permission for that, Percy. I'm not exactly concerned about either of you drowning.”
Percy rolls his eyes good-naturedly. “Come on, I just need somebody to hold her. I'd wait for Annabeth to do it, but she and mom always take forever getting groceries.”
“Oh, is big brother showing off his Son of the Sea God skills?” Paul teases. “Going to have your hands full, huh?”
Surprisingly, Percy looks horrified to the point of being ill. “Of course not,” he says earnestly, and for some reason he sounds like he's apologizing. “I'd never do anything like that around her. I promise.”
Paul frowns and closes his laptop. “If that's the case, why do you need somebody to hold her?”
“Well, obviously I can't hold her.”
Paul's blood turns to ice.
