Emmett-3 looks at his fireteam members, and he thinks— this is it. I have everything I need right here. When he sulks home after a rough fight, he smiles into his pillow as he checks his communicator. When Xynova and Pico bicker, pulling ahead of the group and leaving him and Cecil to follow in their wake, he grins. When they horrendously lose yet another round of Gambit, he still can’t help but feel a warm tingle in his chest and delight in their company.
When Cayde dies they huddle together in the aftermath, curled up on the floor of Emmett’s shuttle. When Guardians start using Stasis— start channeling the Darkness— they talk it through together. When Hive start using the Light, having Ghosts, they whisper across the stars about how to kill a Ghost.

Emmett-3 loves his Ghost, trusts him more intrinsically than anyone he has ever met. His Ghost is quite literally his soulmate, or however close a Guardian could come to such a thing. He knows it’s not his fault— knows it’s not his Ghost’s fault. But he can’t deny the way he watches Ghost out of the corner of his eye or listens for an otherworldly echo.
He can’t stop thinking about how quickly he aimed a rifle at his own Ghost.

Watchpoint: Gibraltar was never supposed to become familiar.
Hanzo arrives expecting distance, professionalism, and a temporary alliance at best. Instead, he finds himself surrounded by people who laugh too loudly, care too easily, and refuse to leave him alone long enough to disappear back into isolation.
Most dangerous of all is Cole Cassidy: reckless, infuriating, unexpectedly perceptive, and somehow always standing beside him before Hanzo realizes he was looking for him.
As Overwatch investigates a growing threat tied to strange adaptive technology, Hanzo finds himself confronting something far more difficult:
The possibility that he may no longer want to leave.

Summary
Hanzo Shimada arrives at Watchpoint: Gibraltar expecting suspicion, distance, and careful silence. Cole Cassidy gives him none of that.
Instead, Cole treats him like a person: casually, warmly, persistently, and with an infuriating amount of nicknames. At first, Hanzo finds him irritating. Then unsettling. Then familiar. Then, slowly, impossible to avoid.
As Overwatch rebuilds around them, Gibraltar becomes less like a military base and more like a chaotic home full of team rituals, group chat drama, betting pools, movie nights, kitchen noise, and younger agents who notice absolutely everything. Cole and Hanzo’s sharp-edged banter turns into routine, routine turns into trust, and trust turns into something neither of them is ready to name.
Unfortunately for them, everyone else already has.
