Summary
Meet Coraline Jones. She is eleven years old, quite curious, adventurous, and brave. About six months ago, through a series of unforeseen and horrifying circumstances, Coraline managed to rescue her parents and three ghost children from an ancient monster called the beldam (or as it preferred, The Other Mother). Life has been quiet since then and Coraline hopes that a new adventure will come along soon.
Meet Norman Babcock. He is eleven years old, quiet, shy, and can talk to ghosts. He was ostracized for most of his life due this ability, and it was only a few weeks ago that his family started to accept his gift, after stopping the spirit of an ancient witch from destroying his hometown as well as raising the dead. Norman is happy that life has gotten a little better, but wishes that he didn’t have to go with his family to visit his grandma’s old friends in Oregon.
Two children who went through extraordinary trials.
The only thing for sure is that their meeting will be far from ordinary.

She dreams, the voice reveals to him over the next few days, getting quieter and quieter as he travels away from Garreg Mach with the promise to return soon. She is waiting for a day, a specific time. Something about a promise? It is strong enough to pull her back into the world of the living, but only on that day. We are so tired…
It’s okay, Ashe thinks, it’s okay. She remembers the promise. Even in death, she clings to helping them. She clings to loyalty. No knight that Ashe admires can say the same.
The last thing he hears before the connection with the mysterious voice cuts off is she dreams the most about you. That’s why I could reach you. In her dreams, she smiles around you.
Ashe doesn’t know what to make of that.

Summary
So much suffering. So much loss. Ashe doesn’t know how much more of it he can bear, and he suspects, somehow, it will only get worse.
Annette doesn’t say anything, just takes a seat beside him, resting her head on his shoulder and messing with her hands. Ashe can see the telltale magic kickback at the tips of her fingers, which are bruised all the way through her forearms, and almost burnt at their very tips—he is glad once again he doesn’t use magic, although his own wounds from the fight sting, too. He is reminded once again that he is not the only one suffering.
He is about to tell himself that he must get over this, that Lonato was a necessary sacrifice, that he does all of this in Lonato’s name when, as if she can read his mind, Annette exhales, snapping him out of his thoughts. -
