Every interaction with his new boyfriend - yes, boyfriend! - was spellbinding. Sometimes, Charlie wondered why he wasn’t waking up from such an unreal fairy-tale.
But god, did he hope for them to be everlasting.

The promise rang out in the air, like a bell tolling out in the distance. The promise was a lock, a wish, a shooting star flying in the sky.
The promise was engraved into their souls, carved into Killua’s beating heart.
For as long as Killua was alive, he realized he’d now always be duty-bound to the boy beside him. To come back to Whale Island so the promise, the vow, the pledge between them would be fulfilled.

Summary
Gon’s words took a minute for Killua to grasp. For a moment, Killua allowed himself to imagine the perfect world his imagination had guiltily created when Gon had first promised him they would stick together, way back before they separated. It was a world in which Killua would always be by Gon’s side, and Gon would always be by his. He could reach out and touch Gon, trace the scars and freckles decorating Gon’s skin like a kaleidoscope of constellations, unafraid if Gon would want him to. He could let go of his control, let go of the walls he had built to protect himself, let go of his heart until it landed on Gon’s awaiting palms.
He could fall in love.
