Summary
There are old words that rattle around Tony's head from time to time. Words that cut, and push him to the ground… leave him bruised and bleeding, and then come back up and circle around his head to remind him that he's nothing… weak. Useless. "Take off the suit of armor and what are you? I know guys with none of that worth ten of you." It stings, because when he takes off the suit, he's actually quite powerful. And when he takes off the suit, he's not at all the narcissistic playboy that people assume he is underneath the red and gold plating. He's strong, and brilliant, and fragile all at once. Only a few people know that he has powers, or that those powers have drawbacks that he has trouble dealing with.
OR
The team discovers after all this time that Tony has powers, and that those powers have a big negative drawback: Tony's body takes an extra long time to heal.

Summary
After Tony collapses right in front of Steve after two days straight of working and fighting, Peter tells Steve that he's kind of a jerk. That's surprising to hear coming from the normally sweet kid that works with Tony in the lab, but also completely disconcerting, because what comes along with that statement is a disappointed look and tone. "He's not superhuman you know. What I want to know is why you seem to want to take good care of everyone else, even people not on your team, but not him. It's like he's the only person on the planet you don't care about."
Steve can't say that Peter is wrong. He messed up, and now he needs to fix it, for Tony, and for the team.
OR
Steve realizes some things about Tony that he hadn't before. Steve's POV, minor angst, minor fluff, and team as family. Steve is not a bad guy in this fic.
