“I thought you said you were warm,” he says, half-accusing, half-breathless at his own daring. He can feel Enjolras’s breath catch, can feel his pulse jumping under his fingers.
“I - I thought I was,” says Enjolras, staring at Grantaire’s huge hands wrapped around his own. “I guess I was wrong.” He throws an uncertain smile at Grantaire, eyes wide.
Grantaire has no idea what to say to that, so he very gently pulls Enjolras’s fingers to his mouth and breathes over them, rubbing them softly to get the blood moving. He knows Enjolras is watching him, so he deliberately keeps his gaze on their hands.Enjolras gets caught in a rainstorm and needs somewhere to dry to his clothes before heading home. And there was only one bed.

"Grantaire paces in front of the car to distract himself from his growing feeling of nausea, and the unbearable heat of the summer day. He’d sit inside to calm his nerves, but Enjolras has the keys, and he is stuck somewhere on the Metro because of delays—or so he texted Grantaire. For all Grantaire knows, Enjolras might have just used it as an excuse to avoid him as much as possible. But the reasonable part of Grantaire’s brain —it’s small, granted, but it surprisingly exists— reminds him that this isn’t Enjolras’ brand. Enjolras doesn’t ignore problems. He fucks them into leaving him alone, apparently, and only shoots short, perfunctory texts for the following weeks to make sure that their carpooling plans still stand."
After spending what Grantaire believes to be their first and last night together, Grantaire and Enjolras have to carpool together for a few hours. The tension comes to a head with unexpected outcomes.

“You’ve met them before,” his mother hums. “Old family friends.”
“You know I’d ruin a business deal,” Enjolras states, honest. His mother waves a hand dreamily, unconcerned.
“They have children your age,” is all she replies. Enjolras has homework, and it is not the 19th century, so he thinks he can be forgiven for grimacing at her and walking off, rather than coming to the correct conclusion.
“This,” his mother says later, fingers clamped around Enjolras’ shoulders, “is Grantaire.”
Or: Omegan heirs to wine dynasties don’t just accidentally waltz into the run-down university clubs of their estranged husbands. They don’t usually pick fights with those husbands, either. Unfortunately for Enjolras, this is exactly what happens to him at twenty-two.Bookmarked by ella1673

Summary
The line inched forwards, and soon Grantaire was watching Gavroche cheerfully receive a bowl of soup and some bread from a blond man.
The man was gorgeous, with soft hair and a sharp jaw. Infuriatingly handsome in a way that gave Grantaire butterflies and a fight or flight response. As he took an empty bowl, Grantaire snarked, “How much are you spending on shampoo for those curls nowadays?”
Shit. Talk about biting the hand that feeds. The man looked straight at Grantaire, and he felt like a butterfly pinned to a board.
The man spoke levelly, “That was a weak excuse for small talk.” He gestured for the bowl and Grantaire’s hand drifted forward automatically. Their fingers brushed as the bowl changed hands and Grantaire could swear his brain shorted out. At least that would be a good excuse for the next words out of his mouth.

Enjolras pictures catching up to him, slipping his own hand into Grantaire’s, pressing a kiss to his cheeks or his lips while Bossuet teases them good-naturedly.
