“Right. OK.” Drake set aside the manila folder and clasped his hands together like he was preparing to give a mission report. “I have a mutually beneficial proposal for you. You pose as Edward Drake for three months, until my birthday, when I’ll be old enough to get legally emancipated.”
Jason felt like he’d missed a step going down the stairs. This had to be some sort of trap, right?
“And if I say no, replacement?”
Drake looked smug. “I don’t think you’d like having me work against you with everything I know, Jason Todd.”

Percy constantly says the most out of pocket things. He's a trained fighter. He has no criminal ties, unless you count an accusation of terrorism at age twelve (?!?). He is lowkey terrifying but also has the mellow vibes of a surfer dude. Is he a threat? Oh, for sure. Is he a friend? Somehow, also yes. Is he going to get adopted by Bruce when he discovers this dark-haried light-eyed former child soldier? Not if Percy can help it.

Auntie Em’s Garden Gnome Emporium had never seen a visitor like this one before: a mortal woman, armed with Celestial Bronze and a plastic hand mirror, carrying a small dark-haired child in a sling at her side.
The little one wore a sleeping mask that doubled as a blindfold. The woman stood with her back to Medusa, watching her in the mirror.
“Hi there! Are you Auntie Em?” The mortal's reflection smiled at her. The fact that the woman was using the mirror annoyed Medusa. She had her eyes covered. There was no need for it.
“I am.” Medusa gritted her teeth. “Who are you?”
“You can call me Danaë.”
“Are you here to kill me, Danaë?”
“I hope not.” With the hand that also clutched the bronze makhaira, the mortal reached into her purse and withdrew a small pouch. It jingled with the telltale sound of drachmas. “I’d like to commission a sculpture of my husband.”

On September 1, Annabeth moves into her 11th grade dorm room at the New York City School of Design. Time to be normal?
