Summary

A retelling of the amazing fic ‘Heretic Pride’ that I couldn't not write, featuring an alternative scenario where Castiel stays after the funeral and, together with Gabriel, takes in Balthazar and helps him become his future friend and co-worker.

Summary
After five long years of belonging to Alistair, Dean is finally free. The alpha is dead, and unless he gets bought by the end of the day, he will be too. He's thankful. It would take an insane alpha to look at him, at his age and how broken he is, and decide to buy him. After so long, the end is in sight, and he is ready for the peace of death.
Castiel on the other hand, does not want to be at the auction. His brothers dragged him along, declaring that they were finally going to make a proper alpha out of him, and get him an omega of his own. He hates his family and their views, but he can't bring himself to cut them off.
What will happen when these two paths cross? Is it possible they will find something new in each other? And may there actually be light at the end of the tunnel?
