"You wanna… help a guy out?" Dean continues. Castiel pauses, enjoying the single moment of power that he's getting. Relishes in it, in Dean's concerned face. As if Castiel might say no.
"What have you got in mind?" Castiel asks, like he's still considering.
"Ah." Dean turns his head away, still unable to say it out loud, here at the end of the world. "I can't find my dog, so. Y'know."

Dean Can('t) Explain, or Sam Considers Homophobia by Mulletbro

Summary
There were moments that changed the course of Dean’s life drastically: his mom dying, carrying his brother to safety, his first solo hunt at 17, reuniting with Sam, going to Hell, and his subsequent rescue, just to name a few. And of course, who could forget the moment when he was found under Cas in the backseat of the car, leading everyone to think that they screwed?
Suddenly, Dean’s biggest problems aren’t apocalypses, demons, and monsters anymore—it’s trying to convince his family that he isn’t dating Cas. (And if he has to hear Sam say one more word about his alleged sex life, he's gonna blow a gasket)

Summary
After a solo hunt goes south and lands Stanford-era Dean in a four-day coma, Dean wakes up and starts seeing a starburst of light… one that suspiciously begins popping up every time he tries to rush his recovery. Doctors chalk it up to everything from post-concussive symptoms, visual migraine auras, and even eye damage.
Yet the more the flurry of light interacts with him, the more Dean is convinced that it’s not just a side effect from nearly dying.
It’s a living thing, and one that was responsible for his survival. After he recovers, the light disappears from his life, largely forgotten.
Until decades later, when stepping into the Empty, and he recognizes the flurry of light as none other than Castiel.
