Summary
Barriss's life is going great. Too great. After moving in with Ahsoka, she gets some bad news: their new apartment building is being converted to short-term rentals. They have to move. Again. And she's had enough. She might have left the Jedi over their role in a galaxy-spanning war, but now she has to face something infinitely worse: the soul-crushing bureaucracy of local politics.
“Miss … Coffee, was it?” The human councilor sitting in the middle of the table spoke, her voice low, raspy, and tinged with disapproval.
“Offee,” Barriss squeaked out.
“Miss Coffee, this meeting is about the proposed zero point zero two percent increase in property taxes to fund the cost-of-living adjustment to teacher salaries we’ve been deferring for three years. Your concern about housing is appreciated”—the Theelin to the human’s left snorted—“but this is not the correct time to bring it up.”

Summary
All Ahsoka wanted was to reward Katooni for a job well done. Instead, she's flying off to Florrum to play pirate with the scum sucker who tried to sell her into slavery the last time she saw him. Katooni might just want to have fun with Uncle Hondo, but Ahsoka would be a pretty poor Master if she didn’t take the opportunity to teach her apprentice a valuable lesson in getting even.
Barriss was quiet for a moment. When she spoke again, her voice had a dangerous edge. “The galaxy would be better off without men like Hondo Ohnaka.”
Ahsoka’s eyes widened. She rolled over, her left lek pressing into the mattress. “Are you suggesting we kill him? Not that I don’t want to, but I don’t think that’s what Kat had in mind for this trip.”
“I’m suggesting,” Barriss said, “that perhaps this is an opportunity. You can give Katooni what she wants—the experience of playing pirate, the thrill of adventure. And while we’re there…” She let the sentence trail off meaningfully.
Ahsoka smiled. “Being a pirate is dangerous. All sorts of things can go wrong.”

Summary
Finally, after months of begging, Katooni has her own mission. It’s a test, really—Master Ahsoka says if she wants to learn Jar’Kai, she needs a second lightsaber, which means she needs a second kyber crystal. It's not as easy as going to Ilum this time though. Whatever. It’s not like she’s a Jedi anyways. And there are other ways to get a kyber crystal besides finding a brand new one.
There are definitely more stormtroopers patrolling today than there were four days ago. They walk in pairs, blasters down, scanning the area. One of them looks at her as he passes, so she gives him a big smile. Master is so dismissive of the troopers, but Katooni figures it doesn’t hurt to try to be friendly. That way they won’t be sad if she has to kill them.
The trooper puts his hand to his ear. Must be getting a comm through his helmet. Katooni could tune her comm to their channel, listen to their chatter. It would be useful—it’s likely that the stormtroopers are here for the same reason she is. But as she’s pulling her comlink from her pocket, something in the corner of her eye shines in the light and she has to see what it is.

Still in shock from her ordeal, Ahsoka attempts to put the past behind and find a way to move on with her life. Having been exiled by the Jedi Council before her trial, Ahsoka now awaits their summons, where her future with the only family she has ever known will be decided…
A knot unclenched in her stomachs. She let out a quiet exhale. She wished they’d proceed swiftly. Yes, they had been wrong, and now they would right that wrong. She had been cleared of all charges, they just had to—
“However,” Master Windu said, a single word that caused her heart to spike. “We must also consider your actions during this crisis.”
Her newly found calm vanished as if it had never existed. “My actions?” she repeated, wary.
