“Wait-” he suddenly pants, the first word since he’s hit the ground, gritty and full of pain, and Pedri’s chest tightens, feeling as if his own shoulder had been ripped out of its joint and he was laying there instead.
“where- where’s Pedri, i need-”

Summary
There’s a kid trying to steal my wallet, Dylan thinks, bemused. He guesses he makes a fair target. The streets aren’t as crowded as they usually are today, most of the holiday crowds hanging around Midtown to see the usual sights. It’s not like there’s an absence of people, but he sees why they’ve gone for him. His gait isn’t as even as it usually is, his breathing a little more ragged than he’d like, his incision aching from the cold weather and the exertion. They probably assumed that he wouldn’t be able to chase after them when he found out it was missing. Given by the way that tiny hand has frozen in his pocket, they didn’t quite get the timing right.
...
Dylan Rhodes encounters a group of kids--smart kids, brilliant kids, magical kids that are way, way too goddamn young to be as alone as they are--on his walk back from the Manhattan FBI office. And he finds them again, and again, and again.
Eventually, they all come home.

Summary
"Liar."
The word comes out as a low, broken hiss. Jack's face is draining of color by the second, his fingers pressed so firmly against the wall that he's surprised it's not crumbling from the pressure, but he lifts his chin defiantly. "You're…you're lying. No truce. Liar. There's nothin' in it for you, and you want us caught, so—no." He bares his teeth. "Not givin' them up. Gonna have to—to drag me out."
"I'm not lying, kid, I'm on your side—"
"You—you chased me down here." Jack's eyes narrow, sharp beneath the haze of agony. "Not on my side. I'm not giving you anything."
...
Dylan's perfect plan goes a little bit haywire when the fall down the garbage chute ends with Jack being too injured to walk. He pivots, of course, because he always does—but the Horsemen think their youngest member is dead, and Jack thinks that it's his fault that everything went wrong, and Dylan just hopes someone will listen to him long enough to make sense of this.
They're the Horsemen, though. They'll make it out of this just fine.

Summary
And then the deep, familiar feeling of sick dread bottomed out in his stomach. Nausea, something distant and not-quite-right feeling, curled through him and he faltered mid trick. He knew exactly what it was, the twisting sensation that made him dizzy.
He had time, he could get through the trick.
He would not fuck this up.
Or,
Jack has a seizure during a performances and only just makes it into the back room. Unfortunately, he hasn't exactly told the others about his seizuresobligatory "i do not have seizures, i do not know anybody who has seizures, and this is a slightly overdramatic portrayal" warning!

Summary
A gunman grabs a fistful of Jack’s hair, wrenching his head back and exposing the soft column of his throat. Behind them, another guy is strapping on brass knuckles. Jack’s Adam's apple bobs with a swallow. “Dylan,” he says, managing a smile, “It’s fine. I’ll be fine.”
“It’s not fucking fine,” Dylan spits. Jack only just turned twenty-two last month; he’s just a fucking kid. “Just do it to me, hit me, leave him the fuck alone—”
The first blow lands, and it rattles Dylan up to his teeth.

Summary
Henley knows something's wrong the second that the Mission Impossible score starts singing through her phone.
...
An unknown hypnotist erases Jack Wilder from the minds of the other Horsemen, determined to cut them off at the knees by removing their most versatile member and strike a blow to both their public image and their trust in each other by ensuring they wouldn't believe him at all. Unfortunately for them, they forgot that one Horseman (retired, sure, but you don't steal 3.2 million euros from a Parisian bank just to lose the title forever) isn't in London at all--and Henley Reeves has no intention of letting Jack fall to the wayside.
