Alhaitham rushes to the bathroom. Bent over the sink, he hurls.
Nothing comes up except for mostly his saliva, mixed with a thin streak of blood. He hadn't eaten yesterday, but that telltale sensation high in his stomach is still there, as if his insides were Paimon getting hooked by a fishing rod and pulled out of the ocean. His throat feels like it does the day before it turns sore.
He coughs to clear his throat, and then he finds he can't stop coughing. At the end of his fit, out flutters a delicate, red-pink petal.
He'd recognize that flower anywhere.
