Summary
Shane thought that by the time he was thirty, he’d be married and on the waitlist to adopt a baby. He spent his twenties in one serious longterm relationship after another, after all.
Instead he is now twenty-nine, single for over a year and looking for a nice, stable boyfriend: preferably college educated and in the same place in life as he is.
The only problem is that the bartender at the restaurant Shane takes his dates to is the hottest man Shane has ever seen in his life.

“I have to go,” Ilya finally says and he mumbles it into the crook of Shane’s neck between kisses so gentle, Shane was starting to think they were going to just fall asleep like that. And he didn’t mind at all.
“No,” Shane mumbles back without thinking. He has one hand in Ilya’s hair and the other on his neck.
“She won’t fall asleep if I don’t come home,” Ilya says with a defeated sigh. He pulls back to look Shane in the eyes, and all Shane can do is peer back up at him sleepily. Ilya pushes a few strands of hair away from Shane’s forehead. “I know it’s very stupid of me to leave someone so beautiful behind in bed like this,” he then says softly.

“I’m going to do something stupid,” Hollander says. “Is that ok?”
Ilya’s voice shakes, ever so slightly. “You mean will I still love you if you are stupid? I love you now. How much worse can it be?”

Ilya rubbed the base of one of his thumbs with the other. Seeing Ilya’s shyness so plainly made Shane’s nose twitch.
“No, not all the time,” Ilya said after a moment. “And not if you don’t want to. Never if you don’t want to. I just . . . I think about it, sometimes.”

Summary
Ilya is not going to steal Shane Hollander's dog. That would be illegal. And wrong. And someone would probably find out and make Ilya give him back.
So. Not stealing.
But there is nothing wrong with giving Chernysh all the pats and treats that he deserves, is there?
Nothing wrong with encouraging Chernysh to spend more and more time at Ilya's house until he doesn't even remember who Hollander is.
Because Hollander is stupid and boring and does not deserve a dog as good as Chernysh. No, he doesn't, does he? Because Chernysh is the best boy in the whole world, yes he is.

"Maybe I am. You're not the only one who can decide on rules for this — thing." Making you not miserable. Making you stop hiding, from yourself, from me, from everyone. "Anyway I really do need to get some sleep. Early training tomorrow morning, so." He drinks the rest of the water and puts the glass neatly by the sink. "I should go."
Ilya walks him to the door, and manages to catch it this time: the brief moment of hesitation where a kiss could go. Hollander's mouth is cool and Ilya can taste himself there still, bitter and foreign; he puts his hands in Hollander's hair and on his face and kisses him until it is not so strong, until Hollander tastes like himself again, and then Ilya lets him go.

He hastily clicked open the folder, his eyes barely glancing through the dozen or so shots there, vaguely registering a picture with a sunset background from his condo balcony, something of him laughing, a picture of him working at his laptop with his glasses on...
The director called him again, and he shook his head, the photos blurring. Whatever. It would have to do.
He clicked "select all," then the messages icon, then Rozanov's name. Hit send.
