A silence pounded over them as soon as the last word left her mouth. It took the space of three heartbeats to realize that the hand touching his chest was still shaking.
Carefully, Sylvain grabbed it and squeezed it between his palms. “Look,” he said, unfurling her fingers. “If you want to sleep with someone so bad, I’ll just sleep with you.”

Summary
Seren climbs onto his shoulder as he stands. Goddess, he’s sore. He’d overdone his training yesterday, and ultimately it hadn’t even helped, because he’d passed Cadfael in the hallway on the way to bed and nearly tripped over his own feet.
Remembering that makes him want to carefully check the hallway before going back to his rooms, but he refuses to actually do so on principle. He is a grown man. If he were looking for assassins, then maybe it would be justifiable.
But he's not looking for assassins. He's looking for something much more dangerous: a well-intentioned man and a fiercely gentle wolf who are both trying their best to be emotionally honest.
