The Valuka Shuna was kneeling on the ground, the tattered fabrics covering them could only barely be considered clothes. Their arms were spread and angled behind them, chained taut to the walls. They were leaning forward heavily, head bowed with a third chain dangling from their neck that led to the floor. Pulled in two directions, the chain only slack enough to give relief to one direction or the other, keeping the prisoner in a constant state of tension and pain. Their dark bushy tail was matted and dusty, hair similarly disheveled. Their ears were pinned down and backward, not a single twitch.
Cyno was speechless, he couldn’t figure out what to say first.
How dare you. He wanted to shout.
Release them. He longed to demand.
“What have you done.” He whispered in horror.

He doesn’t want Ajaw shrieking in his ear about leaving their vessel all fucked up, he doesn’t want to collapse in the middle of a commission, or be found by Kachina and be dragged all the way to the stadium, or have Ifa and Mavuika and everyone else breathe down his neck for the next week because they think he’s incapable and helpless.
But that’s exactly what happens. Because of course.
(In other words, Kinich underestimates his ability to take care of himself and ends up paying the price for it.)
