“Do not mock me,” his voice is rough, slurred slightly, but there’s an underlying lightness that only his twin would know of. The call to a bloodshed. A challenge. Dante’s almost ready to duck under a flying summoned sword but the small sway tells him there’s no chance tonight.
Dante twists the cap back on the empty bottle with amusement, “Oh, I would never,” and Vergil makes a small amused noise. One of many Dante has learned to decipher during their time in the underworld.

Their mother often found them like this in the warm afternoons. They’d scratch, fight, and attempt to maul each other, but when it got quiet, Eva knew her little ones would be sitting back to back: Vergil with a book in his hands and Dante occupied with wooden blocks. She’d laugh quietly in awe as they’d sometimes pass out, laying curled up like they had been imaged in their sonograms.
No matter how much ferocity they fought with, they made their way back to each other with equal fondness.

Dante steps back and puts a hand on Vergil’s shoulder, “He’s a germaphobe, sorry little lady."
The twins take a trip to the local bookstore.

“…Dante?” Nero didn’t know what to expect when the cry became frantic and fearful. Flipping on the lights, his eyes widen at the small child curled in the corner of Dante’s bed. In a too big shirt, the child—Dante? Only wailed louder,
“Vergil! Vergil!”
“Vergil?” Nero blinks like it’d changed the scene in front of him and is met with the end of the scabbard.
Dante and Vergil turn into kids after an odd job and Nero is left trying to figure out what the fuck is happening.
