    Arthur is the perfect flatmate -- he pays his rent on time, works so much that he’s not even home half the time, and is totally okay with Merlin’s magic. Best of all, Merlin is pretty sure that Arthur has a crush on him -- that is, until he stumbles across a list of things that Arthut hates about him.

    Merlin is upset of course, but he pushes aside his feelings to focus on being a better roommate so that Arthur will renew their lease for another year. Most of the things on the list aren’t that hard to correct … so how come Arthur seems to get more and more annoyed as Merlin improves his behaviour?

    “I can manage without a servant for one day.” he says, not missing the slight quirk of Merlin’s mouth at the statement. “And, if I absolutely must, I can always call for George.”

    “Wow,” Merlin smirks, a little bit of light returning to his eyes, and he reaches out to rest the back of his hand against Arthur’s forehead, “are you sure you’re not coming down with something too, sire?”

    “Shut it,” Arthur rolls his eyes, but his heart is apparently hoping to be named a traitor as it swoops in his chest. Arthur curls his fingers around Merlin’s wrist, the pad of his thumb resting gently over the other man’s pulse point, and meets Merlin’s gaze, knowing full well that he has a horribly fond smile on his face but not feeling particularly pressed to cover it up. “Go home, sweetheart.” he murmurs, twisting to brush lips over the pale skin of Merlin’s wrist. “That’s an order.”
