He didn’t ask, didn’t yell, just simply stated his name.
“Yes, Doctor?” Stone replied, always ready to please. He reached over for his own latte to take a sip.
“Marry me.”
Stone choked on his latte and coughed it all over his desk. Robotnik didn’t flinch or move a single muscle the entire time. Instead, he regarded Stone with an aloof stare, like he was just a badnik going through standard upgrade testing.
“Huh?” Stone finally managed to choke out in response.

Summary
As much as Robotnik would love to believe otherwise, being raised in a catholic orphanage had certainly had an impact on the way he functioned. He could still hear Sister Mary’s voice in his head chastising him every time he dared not to wash his hands before eating, reminding him to make his bed every day in the morning.
It went beyond simple everyday habits, too. Despite not believing in a God, he still often found himself reciting the books of The Bible by memory in moments of stress or anxiety. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy… On and on he would go, until he had managed to calm himself down.
Alternatively: Robotnik feels a lot of internalized homophobia and Catholic guilt. Eventually he manages to figure it out with the help of Agent Stone.

Summary
He had essentially become a shining example of what a G.U.N. agent should be. He was efficient, he was deadly, and he was purposeful, at least until everything went wrong. During a routine mission he had lost control, made one small mistake, and that single mistake caused everything to spiral out of control. He had killed more people than he had intended to, and it raised enough questions with the unnamed higher-ups that Walters kept mentioning that he had to be officially taken off field duty. It wasn’t a decision that Stone had wanted to make, an opinion that he had clearly voiced to the withering old man many, many times, but there was nothing to be done.
When Stone had been told that he was going to be assigned to work with the incredibly volatile Doctor Robotnik, he knew what that meant. We can’t find anywhere else to put you, Walters practically said, this is your last chance to be here, and our last chance to fix him.
Alternatively: Stone eventually comes to work with the Doctor, but his past haunts him. The constant stress of his job, the verbal abuse from Robotnik, and his feelings for the man all come together to torment him.

Summary
Robotnik was tired.
He wouldn’t normally notice such frivolous human things such as tiredness or general needs, but this time was different. He couldn’t fall asleep.
Ever since he had come back from the mushroom planet, he had found himself almost longing for the comfort that the mushrooms had ultimately given him. Most importantly, he missed the stone that he had come to call, well, Stone, as it had ultimately come to help him fall asleep.
Alternatively: Robotnik has a difficult time going to sleep. However will our hero cope?
