Summary
"A causal loop, also known as a bootstrap paradox, occurs when any event, such as an action, information, an object, or a person, ultimately causes itself, as a consequence of either retrocausality or time travel."
Or: what if it was always the Lone Pine timeline? Marty navigates what this means for the rules of time travel.

Summary
"Okay," he said, voice steady now. "If that's really how you feel—then I need you to promise me something."
Nolan didn't hesitate. "Of course, son. Anything."
Mark's expression hardened, his eyes going cold in a way that made Nolan's breath catch.
"Promise me," he said slowly, "right now... that you'll denounce Viltrum. That you'll reject them—for Earth. For us."
There was a beat of silence. A single second that stretched on like eternity.
Nolan's eyes widened.
"...What?"

Summary
It was done, he told himself. Whatever change had occurred in the timeline, it was already in the past, irreversible as any other event. And after all, he’d known Marty for only a week. It was irrational to think of him as a friend. It was wildly irrational, to mourn something that had never existed.
After hearing about the birth of the McFly family's second daughter, Doc Brown can only conclude that the worst has happened and that Marty has somehow been erased from time. He resigns himself to being alone, but when he crosses paths with the new McFly kid he can't help but make a friend.

Summary
“Is that really what kids listen to in 1985?”
With a shrug, Marty took back his headphones. “Sure.”
“What did you say it was called?”
“Black Sabbath,” Marty repeated.
The implications of the name caught up with him. “Good grief,” he said, which made Marty laugh harder. “You actually like this?”
Still smiling, Marty nudged his arm. “You like it in the future.”
