“I will admit to you, Takumi… I was planning on offering you up to V’exhness. Anything to see you and your band of abominations crumble.” Eito adjusts his glasses, his gaze stern. “Now, I can’t say whether or not I want to do that anymore.”
Admittely, Takumi is curious. “...is that so…?”
“You still repulse me. But it’s quite the news, after all…”
“Well, what are you going to do now?” Takumi asks.
Eito fixes his glasses and scans the area. “I suppose we should look for shelter for the night.”
“We?!"

Summary
Eito wasn't supposed to be able to escape his cage, but he also wasn't supposed to be able to make Takumi feel the way he did. Rage. Betrayal. A fluttering in his chest.
When Eito expressed interest in joining the SDU, Takumi was as bewildered as everyone else. But after the bombshell he had dropped about the truth behind the Last Defense Academy, they were all wading through unfamiliar territory in the fallout. Maybe it was time to take a different approach...
When Eito sent Takumi on an errand to fetch him some odd items, promising to make the quest worth his while, Takumi relented. However, when Shion visits him in the dead of night to warn Takumi that Eito was about to do something dangerous, Takumi has to once again take responsibility for him.
As team leader, of course, Takumi would rush to his aid. There was no other reason to help a traitor like Eito, right?

Summary
Having lost or lost track of the rest of the SDU over the years Takumi scrapes by alone as a soldier for hire. He's been asked by some locals to deal with a terrifying monster that kills anyone who goes too far up into the mountains. He'll be due a hefty reward for dealing with it, but when he finds his quarry, it's none other than Eito Aotsuki, who is supposed to have been dead for years.
He finds that despite everything, he still doesn't want to kill the three time traitor and last remaining member of his old team.
