“Percy,” Sally said, “this is Mrs. Athena and Mr. Frederick. They’re moving in next door. And this is Annabeth, she’s just two years younger than you.”
Percy seemed to be just as intrigued by her as she was by him. A wide smile pulled at his lips, and Annabeth found herself unable to help but return it with a smaller one.
“See, monster,” Frederick said, reaching over to pinch her shoulder lightly. “Told you that you’d make some friends soon enough.”
Looking at Percy, Annabeth decided maybe this move wasn’t the worst thing in the world.
