The end is fast. Jack Abbot hardly feels any pain when he dies.
He hardly feels anything at all in fact. One moment he was in his car, tracing the familiar path to work, and the next he was a spectre. He floats above his totalled Ford Ranger and watches the drunk driver stumble out of the other car and empty the contents of his stomach into a snow bank.
"Huh," he thinks to himself. "That's gross."

The man raises an eyebrow. “Uh, okay. Good luck with that.”
