Summary
Sometimes, it’s when we feel safest that our body decides it’s time to let go and process our most traumatic moments. Sometimes our brains just decide to ambush us in our sleep. It has been a long time since Ilya truly felt safe.
Here, at Shane’s cottage, it’s the closest he’s felt to peace in a long time. It’s also the first time he’s truly let himself sleep in the presence of Shane.
Shane learns a little bit more about the circumstances of Ilya’s mother and her death in the most heartbreaking way possible.

Summary
It would’ve been easier if Ilya had taken his hand outside and allowed for the potent sedative on Shane’s glove to absorb through his skin, out there in the secluded, concrete garden of the estate. The drug would’ve taken him before he realized it, and he would’ve been a lot calmer. But to his own surprise, Shane found that he didn’t mind the brief moment when his dark eyes met Ilya’s panic-filled ones just before Ilya was visibly overtaken by drowsiness and his legs buckled. Maybe it was the moment of peace that had immediately washed over him that negated the fear Shane saw. Maybe it was something else, but now – with the Russian limp in his seat, his body lolling forward until his head rested on Shane’s shoulder as he succumbed to drug-induced slumber – was hardly the time to ponder it.

Following the death of Grigori Rozanov, Alexei becomes head of the Russian Mafia. The Hollanders, leaders of the most prominent American mafia, assign their youngest son and prodigy, Shane, to lead their mission in asserting power over the Rozanov family by kidnapping their most forward-facing member: Ilya.

(...) “You okay?” Ilya moved back slightly at the sound.
“Yeah, just a… a bruise after the game” Shane hesitated, panicking in his head, trying to find a good, believable excuse. Bruise after the game seemed like the easiest one, although he knew Ilya probably watched the game and already knew Shane wasn’t injured.
“Let me see” he said, probably already suspicious.
“It’s nothing, I’m okay”
“Shane…”
“I’m okay, let’s go to sleep”
“Shane.”
“Ilya, really, I’m fi…” Shane didn’t even get to finish, cause Ilya was already turning him and pinning him carefully to the mattress. He tried to escape, saying he was okay and they should sleep cause it was late but Ilya was already grabbing his t-shirt and pulling it up. His eyes were full of concern and worry, searching for the source of Shane’s pain, travelling all over his firm stomach and then… they changed.

Shane lost a bet to JJ and Hayden and has to get a tattoo. Ilya is surprisingly REALLY turned on by it.
