“You don't do anything halfway, do you, kid?” Gris said.
“Is it high?” Rudo asked.
“Kid, you've got a 103-degree fever. Yes, that's high.”
“Oh.”
Enjin sighed, tucking Rudo in. “Alright, here's the plan, Rudo. Gris brought some medicine for you. Take it, and then you're going to get some sleep. Eisha will check you out when she gets back.”
Rudo groaned. He did not want to see Eisha. He hated the med bay.
That got a chuckle out of Gris and Enjin. “You need to see her, kid,” Enjin said.
“I hate the med bay,” he mumbled.
Gris helped Rudo take the pills with some water and then coaxed him under the covers, brushing his hair back.
Rudo sighed softly, feeling himself getting sleepy at the sensation of Gris’s hand running through his hair. It was so soothing and comforting; it reminded him of Regto.
“Get some sleep, Rudo,” he heard distantly as he fell asleep.

“Oh yeah? You don’t wanna go talk to dad?” Zanka hissed in mock, like one would to a younger sibling, but Enjin was caught completely off guard.
He scrunched his nose, a small confused sniffle, and repeated the word to make sure. “Dad?”
Him?!

Enjin was not, had never been, and would likely never be a dad - regardless of the fact that he legally had kids. Except .. it just so happened that when one of those kids lost himself to a headspace smaller than usual, Enjin sort of did become a dad. That was okay, he could be a dad sometimes. Summary
In the longer stretches on the ground between settlements and towns there were a few safe spaces for travelers to refuel and kick their feet up for a few hours. They were spaced out periodically, all with varying quality and wildly varying services. But this one, the “King’s Inn” was the best one.
…Or so Enjin said.
Or, Team Akuta stays at an inn overnight in the North Ward.

Enjin's been learning how to be a dad ever since he adopted Riyo. Now with Rudo apart of their chaotic family he has to figure out how to raise him too, but he has no idea how to be a father.

Summary
Enjin can’t help but look at Rudo, yet as hard as he tries he cannot muster an ounce of pity. No, the only thing that Enjin can still feel is a very solid sense of pride.
Because despite all that, Rudo is a good kid. Rough around the edges, too full of all-consuming rage ready to devour him and everything in the world. Yet under all that sand-paper personality and hurt lay a genuine desire to understand, to connect, to build.
