“WHAT?!”
Pure Vanilla’s voice, sharp with anger, burst through the door.
Lily’s heart jumped. She’d never heard him angry before. Not like that.
“No... No, no! You said I’d be here for two months!” he snapped. “Now you’re asking me to stay for a year?! It’s hard enough pretending to be happy—but staying here for a whole year?”
Lily’s breath caught.
Staying here instead of going where?
She instinctively cast an invisibility spell and slipped through the door, silent as wind.
Pure Vanilla—or whoever he was now—stood with his back to her, shoulders rigid, hands clenched. He looked... disheveled. Angry. Frustrated.
“I don’t want to be here!” he shouted. “I feel my obedience slipping, and these Cookies... They’re nice! It’s too much. I don’t like it. The mask you told me to wear is becoming realer every day!”
A soft, mocking voice responded.
“Ohhhh, my little Recluse wants to come home?” Shadow Milk crooned through the deceit eye. “Do you miss your master that much?”
Lily’s heart dropped like a stone.

Summary
Pure Vanilla could swear a voice not his had been in his head, a face not his in his reflection. No matter how hard he tries to tell himself nothing's wrong, there's always a feeling of dread and uncertainty in his words.
He soon has to face the reality that maybe he's never been alone when he and his company crash into Beast-Yeast only to find it completely demolished by a force he somehow recognizes.
Meeting new friends (and foes) along the way, truths he once knew all too well begin to crumble into nothing but deceit, and untruth worries he's had begin to become truer and truer. In all the chaos, Pure Vanilla can only wonder:
Can he save himself from this obsessive monster out for him and his soul jam?

Waking up from what should have been his final death was the last thing Mydei had ever been expecting. Yet, the world isn’t what he remembered it to be. Having found himself in an off-putting version of Era Nova, a horrific reality has emerged. The world is overrun with Black Tide Abominations, the Trailblazers are missing in action, and Amphoreus has been completely subjected under the absolute rule of Irontomb.
