During their last battle, Sasuke notices all the little things that don't add up about Itachi. As his brother collapses in front of him, Sasuke tries to process all the contradictions. Itachi is still barely breathing, Zetsu is encouraging him to finish him off, but the strange feeling in his chest says he's missing something. Sasuke decides to save Itachi in order to get answers for all of his questions. But when Itachi is saved with the help of an experimental treatment from Kabuto, he has no intention of telling Sasuke anything. Sasuke sees more and more of his brother peeking through despite the lies and deflections, leaving him unable to separate from Itachi for even a moment. Sasuke Uchiha had a very simple goal, laid out in two steps. One: find his brother and make him lift the jutsu he’d placed on Sasuke, a compulsion jutsu that would force Sasuke to kill the first person he ever considered a friend. Two: find a friend, once they wouldn’t die horribly at Sasuke’s hand. Easy.
Sakura Haruno had her own goal: keep her parents safe and not in a Leaf prison as a result of just a tiny bit of desertion. And if it so happened that she had to turn to someone like Orochimaru to achieve her goal, nobody needed to know.
And Naruto…well, he’s just Naruto.

Many years ago Naruto failed, he failed to stop Sasuke, he failed to bring him back, and he failed to stop him from going to Orochimaru, so after several months of healing and training on his own Naruto left, however in that time he and Sakura had gotten close, closer than even he realized. As one night of passion led to Sakura getting pregnant, and when Naruto returned he discovered he was a father.
Now determined to fulfill his promise to Sakura to bring Sasuke back but also determined to make up for lost time and be a good father to Hanami but life slows down for no one, especially not a Ninja, the Akatsuki are on the move again and this time they're after Gaara will Gaara survive, will Naruto fail again or has his training paid off.
Note: I have aged the characters up a bit in this A/U the Ninja Academy is like a High School aside from Ninja Jutsu and Martial Arts it teaches all sorts of things so in Episode/Chapter 1 when Naruto learns the Shadow Clone Jutsu in my universe he's actually 16-17 but when he fights Sasuke in the Final Valley he's like 17-18.
