He’d touched him. He’d HURT him. Ambushed him. Threatened him. Soiled him. Driver should’ve been there, should’ve cut him off before he’d have had the chance to slam into him. Driver should’ve taken the attacker’s knife out from his pocket and used it on him, right in the throat to quell his screams, all without 306 ever knowing--
“Thanks again,” his neighbor said, breaking the silence. He fiddled with the folds of his balled up, inside out raincoat sitting in his lap. “For… well, all of these things. That you’re doing. And have done. Heh.”
Driver looked over at 306. He looked pathetic, absolutely soaked in rain and covered with dirt and blood, smile weak and apologetic. He was beautiful.
“It’s no problem,” Driver said, smiling again.

The majority of what I’m thinking, what I’m now doing, had already crystallized inside me before I even left work today. There’s no murkiness or indecision about what this is: I’m following this man. Right now I don’t know where he is, and yet I’m trying to find out where he lives and go there. I need to go to him and…stay there. That’s what I want.

"You rebuilt an entire damn car just to flex on me," Luke murmured, his voice dropping into a rough, low rascal that practically purred. His flashlight beam flickered over Driver’s boots as he stepped right back into his personal space, trapping him against the fender. "It’s ridiculous. It's hot as hell, Driver. You're fucking insane... and you better take me home right after this."
Luke has been begging Driver for six months. Six. Months. To show him his hobbies and where he keeps slipping off to in the middle of the night every Friday. Finally, Driver has folded, dragging Luke along with him to his street races.
