Jack Ryan knows the entire endeavour is probably a mistake pretty early on. Not quite as early as speaking up in that meeting, but shortly after when he was sent to try and execute the mission himself, not-a-field-agent-but-an-analyst notwithstanding.
He manages, in the end, but there is a price to pay for it. Luckily, he doesn't have to pay it alone. -

Apparently, hiding a submarine in a river is a longer, more involved process than Jack had anticipated.
To be fair, Jack had not anticipated making it this far at all.Fortunately, they had. Unfortunately, that now meant that Jack had to deal with the fact he’d been awake for more hours—days—than he cared to admit.
Now if only he’d listened to his kid and brought Stanley the Bear along.
Or, Marko Ramius pulls double duty as a pillow and a teddy bear.
