Summary
"Later, Eva would not be able to reconstruct how three hours passed without discussing the project. Instead the conversation wandered: her childhood in Rotterdam; his extensive travels; the best coffee in Geneva and which lakefront café was worth the walk.
She had laughed more at that table than in the last three months combined. That should have worried her. It did not. It simply felt good, the way a held breath felt good when it was finally let go.
When he offered to drive her back to her hotel, she said yes without running the calculation she ran on every offer from every person who wanted something from her. It did not occur to her, even once, that this might be a mistake."
-------
The Petrova Taskforce brings on a new consultant just weeks before launch: a man whose expertise no one can quite define, and whose influence no one remembers agreeing to. As the clock ticks down to launch, Eva Stratt and several of the key scientists start acting strangely. Then Ryland Grace disappears. The Hail Mary crew takes matters into their own hands.

Summary
Grace finally noticed something was wrong when the lack of any noise snapped him out of his reverie. He finally looked away from his laptop, eyes faintly burning, and confusedly observed the coffee shop. Everyone, baristas included, were staring at the television, faces pale and drawn, utterly silent and motionless.
And on that sunny day Dr. Ryland Grace found refuge in a coffee shop to escape the heat, all but one week on the dot past his self-ejection from the world of academia via carbon-based insults, jobless and with all doors pointedly closed in his face, the appearance of the very first Kaiju was shaking the world at large out of all previously known logic and scientific rationale.
It wouldn’t be the last.

Summary
“What if Rocky figures out a way to extend Grace’s life?”
The time dilation already assured him that he’d die much later than the friends and acquaintances he had made during the building of the Hail Mary project—something that still unnerves him, even now—but he would have at least died in a what would be considered a reasonably short timeframe in comparison to an Eridian one.
Maybe… maybe he wanted it, though. Maybe these short twelve years on Erid, plus whatever he had left, just wasn’t enough for him.

Summary
It was worth the risk—or at least it wasn't any less worth the risk than otherwise—to send Grace up with two experimental drugs in his system, instead of just the one that the other two astronauts got. There were bound to be some kind of side effect to the combination that no one even had the time to hypothesize about.
Wiping a mind that was almost completely shut off wasn't Stratt's best idea. The effects of the coma drug and amnesia drug leave Grace waking up changed. He's a different person now.

Excerpt:
"I keep doing this thing where I keep thinking of him… my past self… me… as a different person. Like just now, I did it two consecutive times. I go through so many memories thinking 'Why would you do that?' as if he's a different person that I'm just reacting to. I'm trying not to. Just because I don't like what I learn about myself doesn't mean I get to pretend it isn't me."Series

Summary
Rocky darted out of the way. The door shut with a decisive whirr-click.
The endless glug-thud-squelch of Ryland Grace's body seemed very loud in the small room. He made a noise that sounded like, "Huh?"
"Grace and Adrian talk now," Rocky commanded. They pointed one arm at them. "Talk until both normal."
"What?" Adrian said, baffled.
Rocky clattered several claws against the ground, a discord of pique. "You are both annoying! Always polite, polite, polite. Bland. Empty."In which Adrian and Grace haven't really been getting along, and Rocky takes matters into his own claws.
