Bucky had always countered that he was depressed because he had spent the last seventy-odd years being tortured, brainwashed, and killing people, which had always made her sigh loudly through her nose, shake her head, and write in her notebook.
In Delacroix, Bucky struggles. Sam offers a helping hand, and then an invitation.

“That idiot,” Sam growled out, shaking his head with vehemence. "He couldn’t have waited? Couldn’t have held off just five damn minutes for someone with the right gear? The room wasn’t going anywhere! It would’ve been fine to just wait, and now look where he is!”
“He’ll be okay, Sam,” Torres said, voice still quiet as he maneuvered the jet upwards and away. “He’s tough.”
“Whatever toxin that was was tougher,” Sam muttered, shaking his head. “He stopped breathing, Torres.”
While on a mission, Bucky takes a hit, and doesn't get back up. Sam helps him recover. (Or: shameless Bucky Barnes whump that I did way too much research into airborne poisoning and recovery for.)
