Summary
Still reeling from Tony and Natasha's deaths, Steve goes back to 2012, using his knowledge of the future to alter the timeline. This time, they'll stop Thanos without losing anyone. This time, he's going to do things right, whatever it takes.
What he failed to anticipate, however, was developing feelings for the one person who is strictly off-limits.
It should've been simple. All he had to do was keep the Avengers together, save the world, and not fall in love with Tony in the process. Instead, one change after another sends events spiraling off in a new and unpredictable direction. Now, the future he remembers is gone, and his meddling might just cost Tony the very thing he came back to protect.

It's been two months since Peter last saw him… since they fought. It's been two months since he stormed out of the lab and Mr. Stark told him that he shouldn't come back. Peter is sixteen, he's old enough to stay home alone while May is out of town, even if that's not his aunt's first choice. It's ok though, because Peter has this. He can do this, no problem. Everything is fine. Then the power goes out and along with it the heat. Still, he's fine. It's all good. He'll just bundle up and wear extra layers, and wrap himself up in a blanket. And then there's a burglary in the building. It's no problem because he's Spider Man. Except it is a problem because the burglar was trying to get into his apartment and now the door knob is broken, and he can't lock the door and he's completely freaked out! Dark apartment, no lock on the door, and oh yeah, he's shaking. And he still has two more nights on his own without May. Not knowing where else to go, he goes to Stark Tower to find Tony.

Qifrey doesn’t look at him either as he speaks. He only answers as much as he is asked, mechanically recounting the day’s events, being as curt as possible. Nothing about the dishes he’s prepared, or the kids’ achievements, or something funny that might’ve happened during his lessons. Oruggio doesn’t push again, his throat suddenly too tight to get any words out. He just wants to get back into his room and occupy himself with some kind of contraption and not think about the suffocating atmosphere in the atelier.
They had a fight. It was nearly a week ago.
