Wherein Team 7 accidentally gets launched back to the past during their vacation. Unfortunately for them, time-travel doesn't magically fix all the problems they never had the chance to resolve in their timeline.

It's no surprise that Kakashi's pick for coping is avoidance. Yes, he visits Rin and Obito's graves on the regular but he avoided their family homes like the plague. And of all the skills he passed on to his students, this just happened to be one of them.
Sasuke steered clear of Konoha for most of his life even after the Akatsuki were defeated. He intended to become a wandering nin after Naruto took up the mantle of Hokage as well.
Sakura ran herself ragged as a medic nin and shot down post-shift hangouts faster than Kakashi could pull down his mask to eat.
Naruto was more subtle which was a miracle in of itself. He threw himself into missions big and small, only taking his time when it came to eating at Ichiraku Ramen.
Funny how it took divine intervention for them to face the music.

Obito woke up to the press of weight over him.
He blinked blearily upwards, eyes sticky and mind disoriented from sleep as he tried to understand what was happening.
When he finally processed the fact that there was someone hovering over him, someone who must have broken into his home, he jolted fully awake, nearly throwing himself off of the bed before he realized exactly who the intruder was.
"Wha— Kakashi?"
Or, Kakashi time travels back to his genin days. Obito is appropriately confused.

That was what the Third Hokage told him when Kakashi was made jonin-sensei for the new Team Seven. A new team, different from the other genin had been given. They were as much a mission as they were anything else and Kakashi never failed his missions. In a village of secrets, within the miles of red tape that surrounded his brand new students, opposition was only ever a few steps away, but Kakashi wasn't worried. Team Seven always had a way of surpassing expectations. These three would be no different. Kakashi would make sure of that.
