Abolish is (was, he wants to say, but no, he still is) a servant. Left in the castle, he is the only breathing inhabitant, the only one awake. He waits for a moment he doesn't look forward to, and he maintains walls he doesn't need. Abolish is a servant — the best one in all the Goldsmith residence, because he is now the only one.
