He sighs from where he’s prone, arms akimbo, and roof gravel digging into his spine. “I lost my job. My… other job. The one that actually pays the bills.”
He doesn’t want to dwell on why he’s telling Deadpool of all people. Surely it has nothing to do with his desperate lack of friends. MJ is in California chasing her dreams, Harry’s undergoing treatment for his mental health and isn’t allowed visitors (not that it matters since they blacklisted Peter after last time), and Gwen… Well.
And it’s not like he can talk to Aunt May without her worrying about him starving to death under a bridge or something so… Deadpool it is. Man, when did his life get this pathetic?
OR: The one where Peter and Wade are literal soulmates but don't realize it for literal years because they're literal idiots.

Summary
In hindsight, Apollo doesn't know why he agreed to this. Such is his life now, he supposes. He's being led by Darcy Graves into a graveyard, and he's pointedly not scared. Not even one bit. He's used to visiting cemeteries— or at least, one specific cemetery in particular. The main difference being the one he frequented back home was private, gated, and full of lavish mausoleums fit to house Ixian royalty. Plus, he always visited in the daytime. This one is full of random people, and Darcy says that the dead here can talk. Not only that, but it's the later hours of the night and they're shrouded in darkness. Apollo doesn't think the dead will talk to him, not really, but Darcy looked so excited at the prospect of him seeing a place she loves so much that he bit his tongue and agreed to come. He'd never seen her excited before, so curiosity truly killed the cat.
Or: Apollo agrees to visit a graveyard with his lab partner in an attempt to commune with the dead. He ends up in over his head with one of his best kept secrets exposed, but maybe it's not so bad if Darcy keeps holding his hand.

She turns to the hotel staff who helped them with their bags—a young red-headed man with blue eyes and freckles dotting his cheeks. Beautiful in the way men rarely wished to be. He smiles placidly.
"Is there anything else I can do for you while I'm here?"
"No. You are—" she inhales, attention sharpening as she realizes the man had just asked her a question in flawless Japanese. She thumbs at the hilt of her sword, mind racing to figure out which of their enemies has enough influence and motive to send someone after them across the ocean. Outwardly, she holds her face in the same stern countenance she always wears. "You speak Japanese?"
