They've all left. They've all gone. It's just me now.
It's ridiculous to be afraid, really - especially when his friends are in much more danger than he is. But Dorian's grown complacent over these past weeks of traveling, used to companionship, and now he's stuck in an unknown city, far from home and very much alone. He skirts close to the walls as he walks back towards the main street, staying flush to the buildings for fear of being seen by someone evil. Or something.
I'll be fine. Opal will be rescued, and we'll all be fine.
It's a lie, but at least it's a comforting one. Dorian's good at telling himself those, when push comes to shove.
