Summary
Time and again, Diluc shows up at her door, searching for a way out of his head.
“I may not need this in the same way that you do,” she says, unable to hold down the heat that floods her cheeks. Still, she holds his gaze and doesn’t flinch when she admits, “But I do enjoy myself. And, perhaps… I crave a similar release.”
The hard line of his shoulders eases.
“The roar of a world on fire can be so loud.”
“But when I’m with you, there is finally quiet.”
Diluc stands, then, and crowds her against the desk to kiss her lips so sweetly. Jean’s arms wrap around his neck on their own. Her heart flutters as she leans into the kiss, brushes his lips with the softest flick of her tongue. He tastes of crisp apples and sunsettia.
“Do you remember your words?” she asks when they part, just a breath’s space between them. Their lips brush when he nods.
“Red, yellow, and green,” he whispers.
“Good.”
She feels the shiver race down his spine.
“Why don’t you take the cushion from your chair and come kneel for me?”
