Chapter Text
“… why insects are the size they are,” Taylor explained seriously, seemingly oblivious to the looks of slowly dawning horror from the other students at the lunch table. “Yes, in theory Apiary might be able to breed a bee the size of a car, but as implemented it wouldn’t be able to breathe without tinkertech, unless you rebuilt its insides so much it had about as much similarity to an actual bee as a houseplant.”
“You should write this up and send it in to her,” Amy said, stirring the pot.
“I might occasionally send her suggestions,” Taylor said primly.
“You know,” Chris began tentatively, “those are meant for fan mail?”
“Apiary is my favorite Ward,” Taylor said firmly.
“You should suggest she extend her beehive project to Winslow too!” Amy said shamelessly. “Maybe switch it to wasps!”
Vicky gently elbowed Amy. “Stop helping,” she hissed quietly.
Amy leaned away in mock outrage. “You don’t complain when she gives you ideas!”
Later
“Wait,” Amy said, staring in increasing disbelief at what her friend was working on while they waited for their ride. “Don’t tell me you are actually emailing your ideas to, uh, Apiary?!”
“Of course I am,” Taylor said with smugness rivaling Lisa. “Just like I send ideas to other Wards, and post some on PHO.”
The other girl paused before continuing. “Well, except Clockblocker, who asked me to stop. It would be very awkward if there wasn’t a record of me doing so, as much as we talk about it at school.”
