Chapter Text
Long ago, one man took the initiative and brought the land together. With his magic ability, he could instill trust in others or at least get them to submit to him. He would grant certain magic abilities to those of his choosing after stealing it from those who didn't bend the knee. He was responsible for manipulating so many into committing wicked acts on his behalf. His overwhelming power spread across the land, and before long, he had taken over many kingdoms, a true lord of evil. In a world where magic was common, the man had a younger brother who was assumed to be born magicless. This brother was small and weak but had a strong sense of justice.
The elder brother gave the younger powerful magic by force. No one knew whether it was out of kindness or as a form of getting his brother to submit. However, the younger was not magicless, he possessed a magic that allowed him to pass his ability itself onto others. Then, the two magic types fused into a new magic ability. That's how One For All came to be. But they aren't there yet. After giving the magic ability, then revealing his plan to take over the kingdoms and enslaving the people, the eldest brother wanted the younger to join him. The younger brother instantly rejected the proposal. The deeds of his elder sibling pained him, so he opposed the tyrant but said nothing at first.
The youngest wanted the people to be free, for each kingdom to rule themselves and to work together if needed. Unfortunately, when the youngest brother stood up to the eldest, it was too late. The Symbol of Evil had already taken the kingdoms and shrouded them in darkness. The younger brother saw all the carnage his older brother left in his wake and decided to gather an army of heroes once he was free of the shackles his brother trapped him with. He was free with the help of one strong man that followed him into battle. The eldest had already built an army over his time as a tyrant. Together, they would fight a long one, and in the end, the only ones left were the two brothers fighting against each other.
"I can't let you do this!” The youngest brother stood above his brother with his sword to his throat
They were both severely injured and bloodied from battle. Somehow the younger brother got the upper hand and he was scared to let it go, but he was scared to kill his sibling, if that's what has to be done. He doesn't want this.
"You won't do it. You're too weak." The oldest brother taunted
"I have to! For the greater good of the realm!" The younger spat with much struggle
He was shaking, tired from battle and horrified by the display of power his brother had shown. There was no other way.
The older smirked, grabbing the blade with his hand.
"Little brother, how I hoped we could rule together." He said in a sad tone
"You can't treat people this way. It's wrong!" The youngest brother cried out
Tears of sadness filled his eyes. He had hoped his brother could be redeemed but you can't be redeemed if you do not try nor care to be better.
The older brother gritted his teeth.
"They are nothing, nothing but weak little rats in need of a maze and some cheese." He said
The youngest wavered.
"Brother, why? Why are you doing this?" he begged to know how his sibling could become so twisted
"Why not? You are nothing without me. They are nothing without me." The elder shrugged
The younger brother looked into his eyes and saw nothing but evil, corruption, and lust for power staring back. It was everything he wasn't. They were complete opposites and that was horrifying.
The youngest brother sighed, lip quivering.
"Then I'm sorry, brother, I can not let you live." He said
"Do what you must, but know I'll always come back for you." The older brother grinned an evil smile as the younger pushed his blade into his throat
"I'm so sorry, I couldn't help you." The youngest looked over the land seeing all the corpses of his fallen army
"I have to keep this from happening again." He looked at his hand and made a fist
A man rose from the field of bodies looking severely wounded and holding his side.
“We'll… keep going, sire.” He said
The other rushed to help him as the orange headed soldier fell to his knees.
“Yes we will.” The first man said to his rescuer
Years later, he heard his brother made it out alive. Of course he did. After all of that he must have gone into hiding to recuperate and think of a new plan of utter destruction.
"I won't let you do this again!" He shouted weakly upon hearing the news
Though the realm had rebuilt itself after the carnage of the brothers' battle, its life was at stake again. The youngest brother decided to pick a successor. Once he found one, they trained until one day he decided they were worthy enough and had no evil in their hearts. It was the spikey headed soldier who gave him encouraging words on the battlefield that day so many years ago. He picked the man that rescued him from the dungeon he was trapped in.
He cut his hand on his large blade.
"Sir, what are you doing?" The first successor asked as he stood near the bed
"I'm gracing this sword with my blood so that it shall be a vessel for my magic." He replied not looking way
Blood magic was often unorthodox but the younger brother had to pass on his magic. It needed to get stronger.
"But why?" The successor questioned
"Because I want this ability to live on even when I die. With this sword and my magic, you shall continue my work. Keep fighting and protecting the land. It's your duty now." The youngest brother told his successor
"But sire how?" The Orange headed guy asked
"I can pass on my magic ability if I will and if the assumed holder is worthy. Whoever wields this sword will wield my power. That person is you now." The predecessor explained as he handed over the large sword
"What if I can not?" The successor looked down to the stone floor
"You've trained for many years as a soldier before building your kingdom. You are ready to become the next holder of One for All. I know it." The younger brother told him
The first successor looked into his predecessor's green eyes, finding them full of faith in him.
"I'll wield it with great honor, sir." He bowed his head
The predecessor smiled.
"I know you will. When the time comes, you must pass it on to the next. Make sure they are fit for such a power. Do not let evil take hold of my magic, use it only to defend the people." He told him as he laid down on the comfortable bed they often shared
"Yes sir! I will do everything I can to keep the people safe in your name.” The Orange headed successor said
"Thank you... for everything Kudou." The predecessor said before closing his eyes
He had been very sick for a while, and nothing seemed to help. The successor had tried everything, but nothing seemed to work. His mentor was just weak in body but never in mind.
"Sir?” He said looking at the other's relaxes face
The orange headed guy smiled slightly and placed his hand on top of the other's hand.
“... Sleep well, Yoichi." The new wielder of One For All whispered
The younger brother was already heading down that path anyway. He was only holding on long enough to pass on his magic. After Kudou died in battle against All For One smugly telling him his brother was already dead the older lost it. He was on a rampage. Many successors held the sword, named One for all after Yoichi's magic ability, to protect the land just as each generation before them. Some successors have encountered All For One and fought a gruesome battle with the sword shaped and strengthened by many predecessors.
"Young Midoriya, you can be a hero." The eighth successor told a magicless peasant boy
"What do you mean?" Midoriya questioned the great All Might
"I give you this sword, and with it, my magic, I believe you are worthy of inheriting my power." All Might smiled valiantly
Earlier that day, the boy saved a prince when the well-known Symbol of Peace could not. The man had been weakened in a battle against a particularly violent villain years ago. Eventually, the young boy agreed and worked hard for weeks to prepare to inherit the power. After he was ready, he went to take the entrance exam at the famous Yuuei for the next top heroes and nobility. The rigorous battle left him with two broken legs, a broken arm, and no points, but he was accepted on rescue points for saving a damsel in distress. After that, he would break his bones many more times during battle but gain control of his power at the same time. At Yuuei Midoriya had many friends, all from different backgrounds.
Most were peasants, but a few were royalty. Some of the top people in their class were royalty. Todoroki Shouto, whose parents rule the Aoihonou kingdom. A kingdom of flames ruled my Endeavor, the number one hero after the great All Might retired. Endeavor ruled with an iron fist and was hated by his family. But he treated the people well and gave them protection. Yaoyorozu Momo, whose parents rule the Sakusei kingdom. A kingdom of creators and inventors ruled by the sweet and kind Yaoyorozus. Bakugou Katsuki, whose parents rule the Bakuhatsu kingdom. A kingdom referred to as barbaric mostly because of the Queen and her son's reputation and their culture as a whole.
They treated and ruled the people very well. Although most of their people disliked the young Bakugou, they respected him. Aoyama Yuuga, whose parents ruled the Kagayaku kingdom. A kingdom that sparkles like the North Star. The citizens were quite odd and wore strange clothes, but they were very nice. Cheese was a crowd favorite. Tokoyami Fumikage, whose parents ruled the Kurayami kingdom. A kingdom that thrived in the darkness. The people respect their King and Queen, and we're very loyal. Then there's the middle class. First are the nobles. Iida Tenya, who was from a family of knights and very stern. He worked at Todoroki castle. Kirishima Eijirou, who was a very caring knight, unlike his employer, Bakugou Katsuki.
Though he's called a knight, he's more like a handler to the prince. They were best friends though. Ojirou Mashirao, who was more like a Samurai than a Knight. He worked at Tokoyami castle as a body guard. Shouji was a pretty strong knight who was known to fight with many fists instead of a blade. He also worked at Tokoyami Castle. Lastly was Jirou Kyouka, a very strong lady Knight and in her free time played music for princess Yaoyorozu. The lower class included Tsuyu Asui, whose family owned many bars. When she became of age she started working at one. She was known to be very sweet, and sometimes she helps around the Yaoyorozu castle. Tooru Hagakure was a maid for Yaoyorozu Momo and Aoyama Yuuga since their castles were near each other.
Koji Koda was an animal handler for the Yaoyorozus. He was very quiet, though. Uraraka Ochako, was an alchemist for the Todorokis until she decided to quit and start her own little shop. Satou Rikidou was a cook that specialized in pastries, and he worked in the Todoroki castle alongside Uraraka until she quit. He stayed though. Ashido Mina was a maid for Bakugou. However, she never really did anything for him since Bakugou made Kirishima do it before she could get to it. She mostly helped the Queen or was off shopping. Sero Hanta was a watchman for the Bakugou Castle. Kaminari Denki was a minstrel for the Bakugous and he liked hanging out with Bakugou and Kirishima.
Midoriya Izuku was a bookkeeper and an inn worker, but he was also an apothecary in his free time. He enjoyed learning many ways to help people. Mineta Minoru was a jester who would never get hiredl. Somehow, they all learned to work together with the help and training from their teacher, Aizawa Shouta. Of course, many other teachers helped, too. Another great battle struck the land as students from Yuuei and heroes battled a new evil. Eventually, it ended with Prince Shigaraki, the adopted son of The Symbol of Evil, All For One and Midoriya almost losing his life. If Prince Bakugou hadn't been there to help, he would have. They both fought until they had nothing left and many fell that day, but others kept going with their arm up in the air. After Prince Shigaraki, along with All For One, were taken down, the world rebuilt itself once again and started to return to normal. Shortly after the battle, All Might took One For All and split the greatsword in half.
"Why did you do that?!" Midoriya squawked at the broken sword, being fixed into two new ones
All Might smile at Midoriya and Prince Bakugou
"You two worked well together during the battle and since you both knew the secret of One For All you first, and you both even shared it at one point, you can carry the torch until it's the next generation's turn while Bakugou here will be your protector." He handed the new swords to the teens
They worked hard to become heroes and better at the things they wanted to be. Prince Bakugou accepted the sword without a word, and Midoriya also agreed shyly. A few years later, the two heroes, the peasant and the prince would graduate from Yuuei and go their separate ways.
“The end.” Midoriya finished as he closed the leather bound book on his lap
"What, that's it?" The little girl asked, furrowing her white brows
She got a nod in return.
"Well, yeah, Eri, that's all that happened." Midoriya laughed lightly as he leaned back against the wooden counter behind him
He loved his bookstore. It smelled of the past. A musk that only old books can have. It felt cozy and provided warmth. He hoped the many books in his possession did the same for others. That comfort can't be replicated.
"I guess it was good, but it shoulda ended with them livin’ happily ever after though." Eri crossed her arms
Midoriya shrugged.
"Not many stories end like that, but it's a nice thought." He nodded
"Can I come back tomorrow?" Eri stood up from her place on the hardwood floor and dusted off her tattered dress
She often tore it, and his old teacher had to sew it up for her since she insisted on keeping it because it was her favorite dress.
Midoriya smiled.
"Of course, come by anytime." He told her
He was happy she was doing well. He and a few others saved her from the terrible Lord Overhaul, who treated her as if she only had one purpose, and that was to be a weapon. That was a while ago, though. Midoriya is just glad she's living a better life so far.
"I'll bring Kouta, Katsuma, Mohoro next time!" She smiled as she left with a wave
Midoriya met Kouta when he was having a hard time in his life. He had lost his parents to a villain and hated heroes. Eventually, he came around. Katsuma was a boy Midoriya met when his class traveled to a nearby island. Katsuma's sister Mohoro didn't think heroes were up to par, so she constantly tested them. At some point, the family decided to move and ended up in the same place Midoriya was.
"Be careful." He told her as she went out the door
