    Summary

Kyle is almost forty, an ex smoker, a realist, and a proud millennial who is trying to be more sustainable. One day in March, in a small independent coffee shop, he meets Dan reading a copy of Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. Now, Dan is a dreamer, a writer. Kyle already knows how the story will end between them both, but Dan by no means will accept this.

"There are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy and the tired," Dan quoted, as if off by heart from that dreaded writer Kyle claimed so much to hate from the moment they first met, "and you are definitely not busy, and you are not tired."

Maybe Dan hadn't known Kyle well enough by this point, and in the past this would have made Kyle furious - but Kyle pushed those feelings of anger down for a moment and took a deep breath, thinking of how to react to something like this.

"It takes two to make an accident, Dan," Kyle quoted quietly.

It seemed to shock Dan greatly. Of course, he'd always assumed that Kyle had read the book, he didn't know that he knew it so well to find an appropriate quote from it.

"What if that is a risk I want to take?" Dan asked him, leaning forward and taking Kyle's hand.

    Oh no, no.
